Wild Amazon Expedition 4 days / 3 nights

A tour filled with possibilities to find wild animals and the most attractive landscapes: The Chuncho Clay lick (biggest macaw claylick in the world), located at the Bahuaja-Sonene National Park, and the wonderful Sandoval Lake, in the Tambopata National Reserve.

Day 1

Arrival and transfer

You will be received at the airport by a member of our staff and then transferred from the airport to our headquarters in Puerto Maldonado.

Welcome briefing

After a greeting with local and exotic drinks, the guide will explain the activities and give some general information.

Boat trip

3 ½ hours journey up the Tambopata River into the primary rainforest of the Tambopata Reserve Zone with the opportunity to see wildlife along the banks of the river (families of capibaras are often spotted)

Night walk.

At night is when most of mammals of the rainforest are active, but its harder to see them. Frogs and insects of strange shapes and colors are very common however.

Day 2

Macaw claylick

Early wake up (4:00 am) and upstream boat ride to the Chuncho Macaw Claylick, where hundreds of parrots and macaws descend to feed on the walls. One of the biggests spectacles of the amazon rainforest. There are good chances to spot wildlife here (jaguars are usually seen in this area).

Ethnobotanical Walk

Once you return to Wasai Tambopata Lodge and after a proper breakfast, there will be and informative trek around the lodge area to learn about plants, their different uses (medicinal, cosmetic, in crafts, etc) and to observe the amazing jungle ecosystem and its adaptations to an always competitive environment.

Adventure activities* (optional)

Combined with astonishing landscapes, the zipline and rope bridges create a perfect match for those seeking adrenaline and intense experiences.
(*) Adventure activities such as Kayak or zip-line have an additional cost of $ 20.00

Cayman Search

At nightfall, you will embark one of the boats and start a slow ride looking for red spots on the water and river banks. These are the reflections of cayman eyes at night, and if you are stealthy enough, you may approach them to a touchable distance.

Day 3

Boat trip to Puerto Maldonado

3 hour journey downstream the Tambopata river, with the opportunity to see wildlife along the banks of the river (families of capibaras are often spotted)

Sandoval Lake

After lunch, you will Travel Down the Madre de Dios River and then walk through the forest to the atonishing Sandoval Lake, a wildlife paradise in the amazon rainforest. Your guide will paddle with you on a wooden canoe to look for Giant River Otters, monkeys and birds such as Hoatzin and Anhinga.

Day 4

Free morning

You may enjoy the hotel facilities (swimming pool, Wi-Fi, restaurant & bar, etc) until your flight departure time.

Transfer to the airport

Includes: Transfer airport – lodge – airport, transportation, excursions, adventure activities, lodging, full board, bilingual guide and rubber boots.
